MATANZAS, Cuba — I crouched in anticipation as I stared at the TV.
In a dark room with no air conditioning, I ignored the sweat dripping down my face and focused on the screen.
A weather warning? A breaking news alert? Nope, a different kind of drama captured my attention.
A postseason baseball game.
With a 3-2 count and two outs in the bottom of the ninth, my team’s closer hurled a 98 mph fastball. The batter swung and foul tipped the pitch into the catcher’s mitt.
Strike three!
I pumped my fist in the air as I celebrated.
